Founder
Haruo Makimoto was the founder of the Okubo Judo Club. He has taught judo for more than 50 years in the Sacramento area and has produced hundreds of Judo champions throughout the years.
Haruo was a 8th degree black belt, and a Continental (IJF-B) referee license from the International Judo Federation. He was a life member of the United States Judo Federation and USA Judo. He has served two terms as Chairman of the Board of the Examiners for the United States Judo Federation and was currently serving on the Promotion Committee of the USJF Board of Examiners.
